About

I’ve lived many lives — in more than one country, in more than one language, and with more than one cat.

Winterwhiskers is a quiet corner I’ve carved out to reflect, remember, and occasionally go bananas — gently, and with paws on the ground. It’s not a lifestyle blog. It’s not a niche. It’s just me — left-handed, Leo, and living proof that em dashes predate AI.

I’ve been a medical language nerd, an early internet explorer, a snowstorm enthusiast, and once, very briefly, a reluctant sailor on a boat where the man kept eating nitroglycerine. (He didn’t last long.)

These days I write for the joy of it. Sometimes I write about the past, sometimes about technology, sometimes about the sound of cathedral bells or the way snow hushes the world. There may be a few tales of cats, coffee, and faintly haunted MacBooks.

I’m Scandinavian-born and now living in the Maritimes, where the snow still surprises me, even after all these years. I was once married to a man who knew me better than I know myself. He’s gone now, but the stories aren’t.

And yes, I still use WordPress. And fountain pens. And words like vemod that don’t translate well.
